In the year 2020, the pandemic has affected many businesses around the world. One of the hardest hit industries includes those in hospitality, particularly luxury hotels. Many hotels around the world are dealing with issues such as cancelled reservations, lost revenue, and not knowing how long this situation will last.
Aside from the known hardships that businesses are facing, here are a few ways that luxury hotels across the globe are coping with these unprecedented times.

While many hotels host on-site activities for their guests, new circumstances have changed the way we engage with each other. Some hotels are now offering these same classes online as they would normally host at their hotels. These include virtual kids’ camps, cooking classes, and even Zoom art classes.
2. Virtual tour and travel

Twice daily, Singita takes its followers on a drive through the Serengeti and other unique places of interest. Within just a few days, engagement increased by over 400%. At the art-focused ‘Vik Retreats,’ a husband and wife team are using this time to feature videos and art by the artists who exhibit their work at the hotels. This helps to keep their hotel current in the minds of their potential guests, and well as keep social engagement going although many may not be able to visit their hotels in person.
With many people around the world still unsure about travel, hotels are enticing locals with exciting staycation packages. While booking a hotel in your own city may not be as adventurous as international travel, it still offers a pleasant break from staying home and even working at home. Some of the staycation packages may include free resort activities, free or discounted prices on dining, spa benefits, and much more.
These are just a few examples of what hotels are doing during these times. Has your hotel adopted any interesting practices to cope with the COVID situation? Let us know what you have been up to.
